Joe sells $100 of shares to Bob for $1.05 bringing the share price down from $1.06. Bob sells $100 of shares to Joe bring the share price down to $1.04. Effectively the share price has been dropped by Joe and Bob - 2c at no cost to Joe or Bob other than negligible brokerage. Multiply this by hundreds of small high frequency transactions throughout the day. This is happening across the entire ASX. How is this legal? Generally they’re not even trading their own shares but shares they have borrowed. ASIC how is this legal or fair?
