I like this discussion. I check the shorts each day. I think that the shorts are only part of the share price manipulation. I think they also trade shares they own in and out of the market. Exchange parcels of shares with their mates at the end of the day.
Without going back and checking ALK got to about 6.5% short 12 - 18 months ago, before the flood of good news brought capitulation. With our biggest holder possibly fully extended with his recent acquisitions, we need a new big pocket buyer.

I still see the shorts increasing over the next few months. Dubbo financing announcements will need a another million shares sold to control the price. Follow up announcements on metal sales. Positive cash flow. New metal plant proposals.

Not many miners who do not have to explore as they have already got 30 years of ore measured and heaps more in the paddock next door which they own. Whatever I will be holding, looking for dividends in the next couple of years.
