CATL announced something similar a few months ago, it was just hot air. I suspect this will be too. IMO the CCP is simply putting uncertainty into the Lithium market to send to price even lower so they can stockpile enough for the next decade while simultaneously restricting the supply of their Lithium cells to the west.
In the case of the CATL announcement they ended up being cheaper and did achieve reasonable charging times but the working life was lower than Lithium chemistries and the energy density was much worse.
