Not sure if everyone can really be that informed about Algo trading when it is not regulated properly at this point and time. "U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are leading efforts to write new regulations for the swaps market after largely unregulated trades helped fuel the 2008 credit crisis." So yeah I am sure that it happens in Australia and they are not only used for optimal trading, but manipulation as well.
