They officially updated about 2006 from memory at around 1,000 tonnes which surprised many who hadn't realised how much the Chinese were accumulating.
I'd say now they are over 2,000 tonnes but realistically to challenge the USD they need probably 8-10,000 tonnes. Don't forget that China is now the largest producer at approx 350 tonnes a year and they export 0%.
