Recently, a documentary called The Social Dilemma premiered on Netflix. It has raised quite a storm in the media because of its topic and its relevance to society here, and now.

Some media pundits suggest it’s “the most important documentary of our times”. The Social Dilemma focuses on how big social media companies manipulate users by using algorithms that encourage addiction to their platforms. It also shows, fairly accurately, how platforms harvest personal data to target users with ads – and have so far gone largely unregulated.media-but-whats-the-solution-147351

I would certainly rate it as one of the most important documentaries of our age - regardless of what your politics are. Insiders who worked at big social media behemoths share their stories on how all users are manipulated - not only commercially, but virtually as a Big Brother. It makes for disturbing viewing. Highly recommended if you enjoy intelligent documentaries and are interested in a source of the massive social division in the west today.
