Loved the clip - can't wait till solar shuts down the electricity incumbents. Insightful as to regards the technological transformations taking place and we'll be doings this differently in the very near future. Tony referred to the convergence of several technologies (solar, battery, etc) as a technology transformation not an energy transformation. Fossil fuels are dying a death by a thousand cuts in regards to direct electricity generation. So coal, diesel and gas use for electricity generation will be in severe decline.

However demand will not disappear for commercial and industrial applications. Fossil fuels are still required to make fertilizers, a source of hydrogen, glass processing, cement, steel etc.

More people on the planet, means we need more food, meaning more fertilizer. Same goes for the other industrial uses - homes and building need steel, glass, cement etc, etc, etc...
