I think the whole equation changes if they find gas at all. One of the major risks with drilling for gas/oil is whether hydrocarbons have migrated into the enclosure. If they find gas it shows that indeed hydrocarbons are present in the structure and increases the prospectivity of the lower (and much higher value) oil leg...
