You seem to imply that it’s an either/or choice: nuclear or renewables. It’s not, of course. Renewables are now part of the energy scene (for better or worse), and no party will propose removing them altogether. The key argument, though, is that nuclear should be (must be!) an important part of the overall energy mix, along with renewables, coal, oil, gas, etc.

The current prohibition on the use of nuclear energy in Australia is self-defeating madness, as the international evidence clearly demonstrates. The Coalition must commit to removing that prohibition as a priority when they’re elected to office, leaving decisions on the actual mix of energy sources to normal political and commercial processes. The fact that Labor won’t take the same approach is testament to the weakness of its leadership, the stupidity of Ministers such as Bowen, and their craven fear of the Greens.
