I think it is more than gambling. It is disgusting and weakens businesses for a one-off profit for the people / funds involved.
It should definitely be banned in Australia as well.
The crazy thing is that our Govt. is putting in a lot of money into the critical minerals area but then allow shorting in the sector which is aimed quite often at companies trying to raise money. The 2 things are working against each other.
People should write to their ministers and explain what is going on. The companies themselves are starting to complain loudly.
