DYOR:
I don't think adding some shorts today would be an issue, as any DYL holder can sell some of their shares today which also adds to the sp downward pressure.
The difference being the shorter needs to buy back if the sp goes against their view.
Only issue would be if there are significant shorts being added in a short period to create more uncertainty.
