    My reading is that pre-privatization, when the states actually ran the system themselves, they had sacrificed maintenance of the transmission system at the altar of revenue. [I had a little experience of this]

    The private operators had to reverse this but I see zero evidence of a gold-plated system, as Julia seems to be suggesting. Whiteant riddled poles still fall over and black out suburbs.
