Australia produces just over 10 million tonnes of cement per year, the bulk of that production coming out of QLD. The current production process of LC3 cement utilises ~30% clinker in the manufacturing process. This clinker can be replaced with Metakaolin which reduces Co2 emissions by up to 40%.
The use of Metakaolin in cement production in Europe is widespread. The production of Metakaolin from Toondoon kaolin is by nature of the process, the location, and the metrics of the deposit, very commercially viable.The high kaolinite content and low impurity (iron) content puts it at a significant advantage.
The project is on the doorstep of QLD cement production. Research by CQU has demonstrated that ALL 11million tonnes of the JORC resource at Toondoon will produce high reactivity metakaolin (HRM).
The JORC resource is contained wholly within the Mining Lease, this represents only a small part of the EPM which covers an area in excess of 25000 ha. The JORC report states that the resource is open in all directions.
Production of Metakaolin is the initial stage of Zeolite production, ie the company will produce Metakaolin as part of Zeolite production. At current cement production in Australia, the total market would ~3million tonnes per annum.
Thats a market that is conservatively in excess of $1billion pa. The company has announced that discussions with cement producers are advancing.
This vertical alone values this company significantly higher than current market value.
The methane emission oxidisation program at Griffith University is advancing towards completion, as announced by the company, and i would guess that some interim results might be forthcoming.
As stated above the Zeolite product (ZeoteCH4) used in the methane oxidisation process is produced on the same production line as the Metakaolin production.......a compelling opportunity if ever there was one.
