The best way to stop the boats (and eliminate mass
drownings) and save billions is to savagely undercut
the smugglers business model by decriminalising it.

That would enable airlines to offer flights at a cost
that includes an Entry Tax (plus seat costs) at a fee
that puts smugglers out of business and changes
offshore prison costs into a revenue steam that
would pay for refugee re-settlement costs.

See refugees as assets (not vermin) and the
huge 'problem' of refugees vanishes forever.
