    I've read that in France children are raised on the notion of light drinking at the main meal of the day. but even in France alcoholism is a real problem.

    most young adults (women slightly less than men) binge drink to excess. I learned early that I couldn't drink more than 2 or risk chucking up over the fence.

    it's a very nasty drug really. does so much damage to the liver and brain its astonishing. and yes, drinkers don't like to be around people who aren't drunk.... they want everyone to be as drunk as they are. this causes peer pressure to encourage others to drink. not good but its the same pattern with every drug of addiction, including religion and political partisanship.
