Peteai, you missed the sarcasm. That the Earth was the centre of the universe WAS the consensus view until Galileo said otherwise as recently as the seventeenth century.
This was so outlandish he was called a heretic and sentenced to house arrest. Guess that proves that a consensus proves nothing which was the point of the OP.
