The System.

Currently, the state of Tasmania has a population of approximately 500,000 people ( the size of some larger suburbs of Sydney and Melbourne ). This figure represents a tiny 2.2% of the National population however, when viewed from the perspective of exactly what say and what influence Tasmania's elected Federal representatives have in the running of our country and the resultant impacts on our lives, there does appear to be a major imbalance.

We need only to look at the Green's Christine Milne, the now Independent Andrew Wilkie ( previously Liberal, then Labor, then Green ) and now we have, Jackie Lambie who it seems is going to play merry hell in the Senate if she doesn't get her way.

These three ordinary people have unfortunately, the power to either stop or thwart our elected Government from getting on with the job it was elected to do....To me it just doesn't seem quite right that the Australian people have to put up with these minorities who definitely do not represent the majority of voters.

Is our electoral system in need of a makeover????
