Actually they won years ago but it has now been officially announced.
How does that make the Western world feel?
At this moment it probably couldn't give a damn, except maybe for a lot of veterans.
What does it say about Western military power? Because there has been a coalition of America and EU countries trying to defeat them and change the country to our liking.
As Robert Kennedy said about his brother in that famous and eloquent eulogy - "He saw wrong and tried to right it etc etc"
Here's an ancient but "backward" civilisation which has said to us (and Russia too): We don't want your democracy. We don't want our girls to go to school. And the rest of it.
Even if that was a fanatical minority - but it probably isn't - all the king's horses and all the king's men couldn't rearrange Humpty's life.
Before a large part of the world, in particular the muslim world, our Emperor has been seen to have no clothes.
