You are so stupid. Sharps, are you paid to be a graduate cretin - or did you have to study for it? Actually Vietnam became an enemy early during the resistance against the French. You should read some Vietnamese history. The US was concerned about Vietnam shortly after WWII, and the rise of the Vietnamese, Russian/Chinese supported resistance. That was a mistake. The US should have been the supporter of this - but it caught them by surprise - and the communists seized the initiative and murdered anyone who opposed their plan.

Middle East. Sad. Islam is the enemy of the West. Islam says it is, very distinctly, in the Quran. The voice of Allah. Islam is opposed to any government that is not 'Islamic'. Many many millions of 'muslims' live in the west - and for some strange reason they do so in opposition of what the Quran tells them. According to Islam - they are allowed to move into non-Muslim lands - BUT ONLY if they work to convert non-muslims and work towards an Islamic government. Those are the rules that ALL Muslims are expected to follow - living with us infidels. Feel free to check on it.

I don't think Americans or the rest of the West are actually knowledgeable about the people they were fighting in the ME. Islam is by virtue of its intolerance of non-muslims - a theatre where some lame peace-keeping/policing action will never work. No, it should have been all done from the air. Kill enough, the resistance to common sense ends.
