I think Afghanistan still produces about 90% of the world's opium
If history serves me correct - the Opium wars in the 19th C served the western trading nations to inflict moral decay on Chinese society and consequently open up the Chinese economy on western terms
Maybe the Chinese have not forgotten this
In a karmic sort of way the Chinese may see the opportunity for a bit of payback
but they certainly won't go into Afghanistan with tanks and rockets
they will probably prefer a Road and Bong Initiative with its opium producing neighbour
