the templars and the turin shroud

No one has yet been able to reproduce the kind of image on the shroud, it has three dimensional qualities that can be recorded under special conditions.
Ian Wilson proposed that the shroud was linked to an earlier artifact called the Mandylion which is at the foundation of images of Christ since about the 6-7th century. This discovery might provide the link to what is otherwise a theory about the Shroud's history.

It just so happens I am reading "The trial of the Templars" at the moment and this story puts a different light on it.
