the term recession and the media hype

Have you noticed that after a plunge within minutes the media rushes to explain the fall. "Due to......"

How many times have we heard over the last few months that the latest plunge was due to fears that the US, or Europe , or mars or the moon is heading into a recession.

The fact that economies can't be in growth periods all the time and the occasional year with a few percent negative growth (while every one catches their breath) is hardly economic disaster - seems to not be considered at all.

It's as if they cant grasp that recession does not mean depression.

I for one am sick of the standard crap from substandard quickly written "News" articles. When I read that Wall Streets latest collapse was due to fears that Europe also is heading into recession I wanted to spew. I feel like shouting back at them (the media) Hey Guys we've known there is a recession here or pending for months and we can easily live with that - no problem!

Hell 3% negative growth for a few months - quick man the lifeboats - panic - sell off shares at give away prices - let super funds halve as after all we can't dare to have negative growth for a few months much better to lose 50% of my super right now! It's so damn crazy! So personally I think the word recession should be outlawed until the public are educated about economics to the point that they understand the natural up and down cycles of healthy economies.

Now I feel better - I've got that off my chest. I'll pour a scotch ....

Now for the real reasons why the markets are stuffed............
