Einstein just out of interest I was speaking to a retiree this week who is anticipating going north for winter like many do . But he is also talking of shifting permanently again as he lived in sth Q on the coast for many years .
The logic is often and in my view when the expensive states like Syd , Melb etc get too dear then those looking at retiring sell up and chase the retirement lifestyle . Tassie booms last and is also in the doldrums from what I read .
If things are flat and remained low for several years surely now is the time when the grey nomads will be visiting and if they fall in love with what they see will start bidding up lower cost property where they want to retire ?
Lets not forget the baby boomers are the ones with the cash in the next few years . Downsize from the 30 square inner city house , buy into the favourite holiday destination and those wealthy enuff may even look to retain a flat or smallish house in the main cities .
Just a thought but doesn't the old saying always ring true about buy in the doom and sell into the boom ?
The above thought also implies the property boom has longer to run .
