There has ben some debate here about which party uses "spin" and which party treats the majority of Australians as lacking in intelligence.

Well, in my humble opinion, all opinions are correct becuase BOTH parties are guilty of this.

They both indulge equally in spin, deception, selective argument, over-simplification and the constant repeating of a simple position in the hope that the votors will believe them.

True discussion and debate in the political sphere either disappeared many years ago or never existed at all in this country.

Politics in Australia is like a football match where each team has a win at all costs attitude and the members of each team must adhere to the team position whether they agree with it or not. The only exceptions to this are when the "sub-teams" within a particular team start to fight publicly amongst themselves (e.g. the libs with the ETS and the occasional public faction battles within the ALP).

Any proper discussion and debate of a complex issue is viewed as a sign of weakness, indecisiveness or lack of leadership. Any party member who proposes a view different from the party line is seen as "disloyal".

Hence I can't stand any of our political parties, greens included.

    Isn't Australian politics wonderful!
