There is something to be said for leaving it until the last minute. I think the benefit of announcing Friday is that it dissuades day traders, who prefer to not leave trades over the weekend.So if it's not what the market expects then today is a good day.
Conversely, if we are to get the announcement that all holders are hoping for, then announcing it does make sense to wait until Monday.
Personally, I want an announcement that gets the deal done, with all the bells and whistles. I don't care how long it takes. I won't be happy if it takes much longer but, very much like ECT/India, polite persistence is required
