It would be good if the govt looks at the background of similar issues and see if they cannot link it to the opposition's machinations to simply show up the malay govt. Then use it as an election theme to show that the opposition are driving away foreign investment.

If this Malay govt does not have the b*lls to defend a company (Lynas) that it invited, which followed all the requirements at the time, then complied with even more requirements that was heaped upon it, more than likely many other international companies will then think twice or more before investing in Malaysia.

Unlike a few years ago, Malaysia will have even more competition for foreign investment, particular from a neighboring country like Myanmar which is now hungry for foreign investment and is starting to open up quickly. IMO if this Malay govt thinks they can sort of smugly maintain their status quo re: FDI they might be rudely surprised in a very few short years.
