Many of you heard the news yesterday live on The HighWire, that the CDC finally capitulated to ICAN's legal demands and removed the claim that "vaccines do not cause autism" from its website. Why is that a big deal? Read on to find out why.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CDC RETRACTING ITS CLAIM THAT

“VACCINES DO NOT CAUSE AUTISM”

The most recent data from the CDC shows that 1 in 36 children born this year in the United States will develop autism. This is a true epidemic. The CDC’s response has been to spend a treasure trove of taxpayer funds waging a media campaign against parents that claim vaccines caused their child’s autism.

To their credit, parents with autistic children have never backed down. In the face of incessant brow beatings by public health authorities, studies have found between 40% and 70% of parents with an autistic child continue to blame vaccines for their child’s autism, typically pointing to vaccines given during the first six months of life. They experienced the truth of what happened to their children.

CDC retracts claim “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism”

Despite a lack of evidence, the CDC for years made the claim that “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism.” This claim has been used to block federal funding to study whether vaccines cause autism. ICAN’s legal team, led by Aaron Siri, therefore spent the last three years fighting to have this claim retracted by the CDC. You can read all about that here.

In the end, the CDC could not produce a single study to support that the vaccines given during the first six months of life do not cause autism and had to capitulate and remove from its website that “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism.”

With the removal of this unsupported claim, it is ICAN’s sincere hope that our public health authorities will fund independent scientists to conduct the desperately needed studies of autism and the cumulative impact of the vaccines given during the first six months of life.

The cries of parents who know that vaccines caused their child’s autism should no longer be ignored. The science must be done. And ICAN will continue to fight to make sure that that it is done.

CDC claim that “There is no link between vaccines and autism”

The CDC does continue to claim that there is “no link between vaccines and autism.” That statement is the polar opposite of stating that “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism.”

Saying “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism” means the question of whether vaccines cause autism is settled-- no further research is needed. Saying “There is no link between vaccines and autism” means that the question of whether vaccines cause autism is not settled – that further research is needed to prove whether or not vaccines cause autism.

Think about it this way. Only after studies clearly show that Chemical X does not cause autism, can you say “Chemical X does not cause autism.” Without those studies, you can’t make this claim. But even without a single study, you can claim “There is no link between Chemical X and autism.”

Bottom line, removing the claim that “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism” is a massive admission that the CDC does not know whether vaccines do or do not cause autism.

CDC claim that “Vaccine ingredients do not cause autism”

The CDC’s website also claims that “Vaccine ingredients do not cause autism,” without specifying if it means all ingredients or just the one discussed on that page, thimerosal. ICAN will get to the bottom of that claim, including forcing the CDC to admit it can’t make that claim for aluminum adjuvants used in vaccines.

But whether one or more ingredients, like water used in vaccines, does or does not cause autism is not really the issue. The question is whether the vaccine, the product itself as formulated, causes autism. And we now know that the CDC finally understands that it can no longer claim that “Vaccines Do Not Cause Autism.”

Well, they had to do that. There is too much evidence coming out showing that autistic people have a damaged and deformed hypothalamus which disrupts the oxytocin system. The hypothalamus is one of the few areas of the brain that is not protected by the blood brain barrier (bbb) and therefore can be attacked by antibodies invoked by vaccines and viruses.
