What do you think caused the disappearance of Scarlet Fever...

    What do you think caused the disappearance of Scarlet Fever given that there has never been a vaccine for it? And do you think that its decline has anything in common with the decline in other infectious diseases such as polio? Could the improvement in sanitation in Australia in the first half of the 20th century(as opposed to night carts) have had anything to do with the decline? How do you explain the declines in infectious diseases if not for sanitation? How much credit should go to sanitation and how much to vaccines?
