I was born before the measles vaccination was introduced. Given measles is highly infectious, it soon travels through unvaccinated populations. In my case the UK, a developed country with a good medical system. Thus I caught measles. I was really really sick and my parents were scared that I might not survive. But I am here now to tell my story. Not so the 115 individuals who died from measles in the UK that year. Most deaths would have been children, parents burying their one children.
