In 2016 I was part of the legal team that sued DuPont for releasing millions of pounds of its toxic Teflon surfactant C8 into the Ohio River and into air and groundwater from its plant in Parkersburg, West Virginia. DuPont’s poison caused thousands of persons to suffer injuries,including kidney and testicular cancer, and ulcerative colitis.
For 30 years DuPont knew that C8 was in drinking water in Ohio and West Virginia at dangerous levels. The company hid the peril from tens of thousands of Americans who were drinking, bathing in and cooking with that water. DuPont purposefully poisoned the people and animals of the Ohio Valley with deadly toxins. While lying about the dangers, Dupont increased its production, and continued to discharge the chemical into 6 large municipal drinking water systems, and the Ohio River. In February 2017, we settled thousands of cases for $670 million and brought justice to the people of Parkersburg.
