Yes. My mother caught polio in the 1946/7 epidemic in Sydney. She says that of the four girls in her class who got it, she was the only one who didn't end up in a wheelchair.

She basically made a full recovery after six months, though she still has no reflexes in one leg.

Perhaps Menta and Mogga would like to chat to her? She is a kindly old lady, always wanting to see the best in people - but she would rip out the bastards kidneys if they revealed they oppose vaccination.

And totally deserved.
