the uranium bubble?

  1. 5,867 Posts.

Starting to have a dot.com feel to it?

Punters chasing the latest penny dreadful into fields where the management have no demonstrable expertise.

Companies intent on pegging ground in states that currently do not allow the production of yellowcake (ie QLD and WA).

Companies paying wads of shares to unnamed vendors (who probably only picked up the dirt themselves a week or two before).

Investors totally in the dark as to what might constitute a commercial deposit.

Only a couple of trully recognised players in the field,in the mining sense (ERA, PDN, now BHP thanks to WMR, not many more).

An easily sellable story in terms of energy demand for years to come.

If it is too good to be true ,it usually isn't. Are there reasonable uranium plays out there in Australia in the exploration sense-probably as it hasn't been looked at for 30 years. (But in the 50s to early 70s it was looked at fairly intensely and my technical friends suggest it is not that hard to find-geophysics works a treat apparently).

Lots of promote in the past six months with very little to show for it other than a whole new mountain of scrip from some 'could have been champion.'

If we have a big new discovery, all the hype will be justified. Will we get one? Its possible, but not probable in my opinion. Will I avoid uranium stocks for the time being-you betcha, I am not a trader-but good luck for those entering the casino!

    Cheers,TAS
