    Hi Tony. My (layman's) thinking is that cross trading back and forwards doesn't increase the net number of shorts recorded. But, by persistently passing the parcel, the aim is to rein in then force the sp down.

    Essentially, the shorters aren't borrowing more shares to sell, they are simply collusively shuffling paper to throttle the sp.

    I don't know if such is the case, it just seems to be a reasonable contention. I am more than happy to be educated by someone in the know. Cheers Keith
