It does happen but I doubt this would be happening to the level we are seeing on the ASX. It isn't overly complicated to see this play out from an ASIC level. Hedge funds can create the illusion of selling pressure, it's called "wash trading" or "painting the tape", but this level of collusion would be noticeable. It isn't easy to do with smaller companies. I'm not saying it can't be done, trading back and forth to make it look like high-volume selling.

Boss can see the shareholder registry they'd have an idea of trading activity and who the shorters are even if they are custodian held.

To artificially depress the price, they might, Keep placing sell orders at lower prices and the moment it drops they fill it and then immediately place another order lower and lower, whilst it is a degree of manipulation it isnt illegal. I think what we are seeing is they are offloading and pushing the price down trying to keep it below key technical support levels, you can see we were doing well and the moment we started to reverse the reverse happened incredibly hard. It is possible they triggered a lot of stop losses. A lot of retailers and other traders and long instos would be using them with the latest share price rise, trying to lock in profits knowing Boss can reverse hard at the same time. We can see the moment it started heading back past the open price $4.28 it just went all the way down. From the high of the day to the low was close to 7% and it is unusual tom be green all day and holding nicely then very fast we started sinking.

I'm guessing here, the sudden drop may have triggered more stop-losses and that can then push algo trading to kick in. It was an unusual day, I did watch it closely and the book orders filling, it was certainly not retail driven, it may have been but those orders being filled were not a few k shares here and there. Profit booking from the recent rise would have also contributed. Lot of investors trading in and out, so it would have been a combination of everything.

But I don't think they are wash trading to the level that would push this down.
