Yes that's what most people would think and to an extent that is also true.
The sophs are somehow managing to keep the SP suppressed so they can buy at a price lower than what they sold their short (borrowed) shares for in order to make a profit. They need to do that before they can return the borrowed shares.
If they can't sell below the SP they sold then that is what I would call a classical "squeeze". We haven't seen it yet. It can happen anytime.
I must say they would be having great deal of difficulty selling lower that right now and racing against the clock. It all depends on holders HOLDING on to their shares (free float).
