If you're interested this is a really good antibiotics blog by a consultant in the field.
He's bullish but due to a few roadblocks in terms of trial designs by the FDA and poor pricing signals, the bubble in antibiotics might not happen for awhile.
But things have been happening. I think last year or so the US govt added 5 year extensions to patents for antibiotics (google GAIN Act). And BARDA is now providing more non-dilutive funding to non biodefense areas.
