The idea of increasing Soviet influence and domino theory is a nonsense.
The USSR collapsed as do all invasive empires because the peoples aren't going to capitulate in the long run.
In fact history shows that the greater influence is not by the invaders on their conquests but the reverse.
I don't for a moment suggest the countries involved are utopian ideals but why does the west believe its progression through democracy and suffrage etc become ideal and not allow others to find their own way.
How about we encourage advancement with carrots and not insidiously interefere for oil or just playing nations against each other for gain.
