"The Russian economy and standard of living is bad enough but Ukraine is an utter basket case. ". ....... yet the reports I've read show that support for the Ukraine Govt is high and people are arming themselves in readiness to fight off the Russians.
I've no doubt there would be quite a few who want to be part of Russia, though I doubt it would make a difference to their livelihoods.
I've often had pause to wonder at assessments of per capita income.... how much is a pound of spuds in Ukraine and Russia, how much a loaf of bread? how much for a roof over your head and how much shelter, comfort and security does the roof provide?
