Atomic energy is green energy
Uranium can help put Greenland on the Green energy map By Kurt Kristensen
As climate change has people taking a second look at atomic energy as a source of green power, the biggest source of fuel for new reactors could be Greenland.
Greenland currently passed a total ban on uranium mining in 1988, but parliament will take up the issue at the end of November.
Studies show that Kvanefjeld is one of the richest uranium deposits in the world. According to Hans Kristian Schønwandt, the chairman of Greenland Minerals and Energy, Greenland's uranium deposits rival China's, currently the world's largest exporter.
'The world hasn't discovered Kvanefjeld yet, but it will,' he said.
