    They only care about winning silly rhetorical points, not reality.
    "Everyone likes a drink, right, why should we have a RACIST policy that says indigenous people can't drink??"

    Meanwhile forgetting that these laws are targeted at specific communities.

    I don't see a single mention of race in this.

    And its not like - if you really want a drink - you can't just go somewhere else and have one.

    The point being that the communities cannot be adequately policed. If things get out of control in the "dry" areas,( and are we going to pretend that things don't spiral out of control with alcohol really fast sometimes?) they cannot quickly respond.

    But hey! Don't let your stupid single variable problem solving get stifled by practical considerations!!!
