Yahoo finance and the Nasdaq web site show that the high price for BOTA on 9 NOV 2012 was $4.45.
I did not have the data to calculate the volume-weighted average price for BOTA on that day. So, by choosing the high price and hence the lower capital loss, ATO should not have the reason to complain about the calculation. On my side, even the lower capital loss has been more than 100k. I will be lucky if I can use up that amount of capital loss in the near future.
IMO, using the last day of BTA trading price to determine the price we got paid for our BTA shares does not make sense ear much. For example, what if the BOTA share price was more than $10 on 9 NoV 2012 and was still $10 now? Is it still ok to use the last trading price of BTA to determine the result of the CGT event?
Just my opinion, not and advice.
