The water is almost 100% coming up the old well and through the cement which was squeezed through the old perforations.

I would expect that the water cut would develop from 50% now to 85% in the next week or less - as it is not coning in through a homogeneous formation but is flowing via a channel (the uncemented annulus of the old well in my opinion).

The eventual solution will be another workover, probably with devices called swell packers (google it) to isolate the old wellbore and with slotted pipe further into the sidetrack.

Failure to isolate the old wellbore was always the biggest risk with the workover...
