The WORD can't have a beginning because it resides with God and God is unchanging and eternal, so the story goes. You can't have an eternal God who can change because its Will is eternal and therefore the spirit of Jesus is eternal. The body of Jesus was a human vehicle that was produced at a later date, but this is not about the physical Jesus, rather His spirit. If Jesus is identified in John 1:1 then He can't be called, a god, because the understanding is inherent in the scripture and has no need to be lower cased which never happens when referring to Jesus.
