nightstalker, u will have to pay the capital gain eventually.
If u were to sell and buy the options u will obviously have a capital gain at the moment. where as now u have an 'unrealised' capital gain, that u will have to pay when u sell.
So u will be better off by 0.5c (your case 10k)
but u would have to pay the capital gain now.
Also the 12 month rule (pay only on half of the capital gain) also needs to be considered.
