The trick with Pdn was to ride through all the retraces and consolidation, otherwise each time you sold out you might have missed the 'big move', or you may not have bought as many shares back induring the retrace, hence, in the end you would be worse off overall. Naturally, if you can get your timing right you would be better off trading it, but its not easy.
