Recently been made redundant with the entire workforce at a particular mine in wa and there does not seem to be much available elsewhere. This has been going on for some time in QLD coalfields. Contractors and capital projects are put off.

Hearing reports of 1800 applicants applying for one position, mines either shutting down or scaling back their workforce. Mines in the nt are seeing an influx of wa worker due to the poor jobs market.

This will be apparent in the general economy soon as there will be many that overextended themselves during the boom ie houses, cars and lifestyle. It is literally going to hit the fan.
