I think we have different definitions of "top line results". If I understand you correctly your definition of "top line" is that they are really excellent results. My understanding was that "top line" simply means the results that can be found on the top line of a document. In other words the most important results.

So if the company says that by November we will be able to show you "top line" results under your definition they are saying they will show us really excellent results. Under my definition they are saying they will show us the most important results (in this case the median time to progression free survival). Those results could be good or bad but they are the most important ones. It also means they have further more detailed results that they will show to us once they are analysed further down the track.

It's of little importance really but maybe puts management in a better light as they may not have been saying before the results were out that the results were going to be fantastic.
