I have to say I am surprised to see the GCN announcement emphasising the launch of their advertising funded free ISP in year 2000.

Leading with their chin, I would have thought.

What isn't said is that the free ISP collapsed in year 2001, due to lack of advertising revenus.

So here's hoping that they have learned something since 2000, because GCN sure need the revenue from the current free WiFi system.
