no, I don't agree with that. The formation of the EU has taken hold. Whilst French still think they are French in most areas, Germans think they are German, Italians think they are Italian etc - most of them also think they are European -
and that's a collective that didn't happen before 58 as far as I can see an it took many years to get going
I don't know the culture well enough - but, there's certainly European flags everywhere -
I think people think as Europe in many ways - whilst staying French or German or Italian etc etc
And they all know what the right brought to them in 1945 - even if it's a different shade now - they won't forget that

Just wait for the next elections and you will probably see that being German, French or Italian is more important than being ruled by unelected European Eurocrats. Just ask the Hungarians
