personally, I don’t think there’s any rules, nor any ‘best’ ways of doing things.

I feel privileged to know and have known very fine people who have a full range of contact relationships with their parents

Right from multiple weekly comfortable friendly contact to others who left home and never saw parents again- and all those were good relationships.

I have also seen and know ones who had bad relationships- who now have regular contact right through to zero contact.

As far as I see - we are all different- it’s that simple.

I have many friends who love the grandparent relationship thing and many who have nothing to do with it nor want to.

    We are just different.

With multiple relationships through life - kids seem to have plenty of choice for parent and grandparent models as far as I can see - in some cases, it must be a glut.
